The L.R. Nelson Corporation is a world class manufacture of sprinkler and irrigation equipment. In 1995 the company built an entirely new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Peoria, to consolidate manufacturing and administrative functions. The facility will operate twenty four hours a day during peak seasons. All functions from design to assembly are performed in the new facility . Flexible access control and security systems were required to serve the needs of the company.

The access control system in conjunction with the employee identification badges generate reports. These reports indicate whom has access to different areas of the the plant at specific times (all management driven). The easily configured reports may also be exported for use in the human resources department to record time and attendance. At each door location, an electronic keypad displays the status of that individual door. When a card is presented a message is displayed on the keypad indicating that the alarm is shunted and access is allowed (or the converse).

All employees are issued an employee identification badge. The identification badge is the key to the building security and access control system. A photograph of each employee is made and is digitally reproduced on the identification badge. The image of the employee is also stored on the access control system computer. By using video imaging, security officers at L.R. Nelson Corporation are able to visually confirm that employees have the proper badges. The employee identification badge is not only used for building access. For some employees the badges serves as an electronic time card.

All of the system electronics are housed in secure metal enclosures assuring the integrity of the system. The system that we designed utilizes equipment manufactured by IDenticard, Radionics and other manufacturers to provides the system control and reporting required by L.R. Nelson.
