Airport security installations require a high degree of system integration to meet a demanding schedule of protection for life and property. Addressing the needs at each location with security solutions that are practical is the key behind systems designed and installed by Thompson Electronics Company. Door monitoring, locking and control coupled with video surveillance integrated with card access control are basic building blocks of advanced security systems. Total facility security systems may also integrate intercommunications and electronic fire alarm and detention systems providing information via easily understood graphic annunciators or computer graphic user interfaced systems

Camera mounted below the service canopy add surveillance to the front of the terminal building and the visitors parking area. The cameras use pan, zoom and tilt features. This enables security officers to observe a wide area or zoom in on specific activities in one area. Various camera and lens combinations are used to monitor specific areas of the airport.

Capital Airport is equipped with Video Imaging capabilities. This allows photo identification badges to be created, with a digitized image of the employee stored along with all text related to that individual. When a card is presented for access, the stored image may be compared with the real time video image of the badge holder for visual verification of identity.

The card access system controls who can go where and when. Employees may enter specified areas with valid cards when programmed into the system. Access to areas may be further controlled by month, week, day or hours of the day. In the Public Safety Building, officers using software may view and generate reports denoting all door activity throughout the airport complex.

Security officers in the Public Safety Building have full control of camera from the security monitoring station. Zoom, pan and tilt controls allow surveillance of the entire airport from the runway to the terminal. These distances may be up to 3000 feet. The security control console contains all of the systems control for single point-monitoring of all activity in the airport.
