February 2006 -state-of-the-art
Sound at Purdue
Thompson Electronics Company recently
completed state-of-the-art sound systems at Purdue University
in Indiana, This multi-year project
included two theatres
in the Visual & Performing Arts department. Thompson
Electronics Company’s, project manager, Hal Wiseman
coordinated the audio systems in the two theatres including:
the production intercoms; program monitor and paging systems;
assisted listening in the audience seating; the production/RF
video system; and the audio production components in the
music education classroom.
Hal also completed the New Recording
Studio at Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts. The new
student recording studio includes a Yamaha DM 2000 digital
mixer, video presentation system with Sanyo projector and
video scaler, along with remote computer inputs and digital
editing software. This system is used in a teaching environment. Nancy T. Hansen Theatre -
The new Nancy T. Hansen Theatre, a 300-seat proscenium theatre,
opened its doors in 2006. This state-of-the-art facility
was designed to provide an intimate actor/audience relationship
through the use of an audience chamber that is only 12 rows
deep and terraced seating to provide maximum visibility of
the 36' wide by 28' tall proscenium (area between the curtain
and the orchestra) opening.
Carole and Gordon Mallett Theatre -
The Carole and Gordon Mallett Theatre, also new in 2006,
is a flexible performance space
with seating capacities ranging from 100-150 seats, depending
on the stage configuration.
