The Grand Prix Series is a race circuit for IVS members that awards participation in specific races throughout the year. Points are distributed across age groups; age group is determined by participant’s age as of 31 December 2013. Awards will be presented at the annual IVS meeting & awards ceremony (scheduled to be held in February 2014) and are given based on the number of series races completed and total points accumulated.
· Runners must be 2013 IVS members and meet the minimum requirements by running in (3) Grand Prix races and volunteering at (2) Strider finish lines. A Strider finish line is one that is conducted by an IVS team captain. The races that count toward the volunteering requirement are noted as "FL", while Grand Prix series races are noted as "GP" on the 2013 Grand Prix 2013 Standings schedule. Please note; C.I.T.R.A. and IVS sponsored races are not qualifying races for IVS
· As an alternative to the Strider Race finish lines, volunteering at the IVS Kids Series for (4) evenings is equivalent to (2) Strider race finish lines. This allows participants to run all the races without having to help on a finish line and encourages helping with the Kid's Series.
· Grand Prix finish line volunteering participation requirement may be fulfilled by 2 race FLs, 4 Kids Series FLs, or 1 race and 2 Kids Series FLs.
· Runners nineteen years and under must run (3) races and are not required to work a finish lines but are encouraged to do so (19 and under have 200 base points added to their score in lieu of Finish Line points).
· Finish line credit will be included in the Standings Spreadsheet. Participants are responsible for notifying the Grand Prix coordinator for finish lines worked. Notification of verifiable finish line work must be made by email, text message, voicemail (requires confirmation) or Facebook (post or message), within one week of the race where the finish line work was performed.
· The 2013 IVS Grand Prix Awards schedule (click here) outlines awards and distribution thereof.
· All IVS Grand Prix Series participants meeting minimum requirements will receive a participant's award.
· All IVS members are eligible to be included in Grand Prix Series by sending a request to the IVS Grand Prix Series Coordinator (Submit age and date of birthday).
· Age for Grand Prix series age group awards will be determined by the participant’s age on 31 Dec 2013. Race age group points will be determined by participant’s age group at the time of the race.
Points are as follows: Base of 27 plus 1 point per mile. Two Volunteer Finish Lines count for 100 points each (Kids Program Finish Lines count 50 points each).
1 Mile: 28 for first, 27 for second, 26 for third, etc.; 5k: 30 for first, 29 for second, 28 for third, etc.; 4 Mile: 31 for first, 30 for second, 29 for third, etc.; 5 Mile: 32 for first, 31 for second, 30 for third, etc.; 10k: 33 for first, 32 for second, 31 for third, etc.; 8 Mile: 35 for first, 34 for second, 33 for third, etc.; 15k or Bi-Tri: 36 for first, 35 for second, 34 for third, etc.; 1⁄2 Marathon: 40 for first, 39 for second, 38 for third, etc.; Marathon: 53 for first, 52 for second, 51 for third, etc.
*Fun runs do not count for points.
IVS Grand Prix Series Rules apply to the IVS Grand Prix Series only. Registrations for the Grand Prix are accepted anytime during the year. Points will be awarded for IVS Grand Prix races retroactively. However, if you enter after a given race, only the maximum number of available points for your age group will be awarded. (e.g. If two other runners in your age group were already Grand Prix participants for a 5k run, you would receive only 28 points even if you ran faster than they did.) If a new member joins too late in the season to fulfill the participation requirements, no points will be awarded.
